Liturgical ministers are lay people who are trained by the pastor or staff to assist at Mass. Some directly participate in the Mass as Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist, Lectors, or Altar Servers. Others help the Mass run smoothly by ensuring everything needed is prepared before Mass, enough volunteers are present, greeting parishioner and visitors, helping with seating, collecting the offertory, and handling any needs that arise during the Mass.
